  • Black Man With a Gun for Silencerco

Black Man With a Gun for Silencerco

The  year 2020 has been difficult for many of us.  I am glad to get some good news and share with you.  The ranges have been packed with new gun owners.  Most look like me.  It is unbelievable.

Fear is still behind the sales but it aint the first time.

    What is the good news?

I am happy to announce that I will be a brand ambassador for the world’s largest firearm silencer manufacturer, SilencerCo. The company based in West Valley, UT is the nation’s leading designer and manufacturer of suppressors. SilencerCo is dedicated to creating products that will improve sound reduction levels, durability and longevity, form and function, ease of use and maintenance in ways never thought of or achieved.

I’m excited because I get to share my journey with you through social media.

    Brand Ambassador

I used to think that silencers were only for the rich.  Some people think silencers are only for bad guys in the movies. And although the government has made it tough to get a suppressor you can own one legally.  In the upcoming videos and blog post,  I am going to be sharing the 5W’s  (Why, who, where, when, and What) of suppressors from my friends at SilencerCo.  The one in the video is an Osprey model that is on my Gen 3 Glock 17.  My review and demos are not going to be from a tech guy perspective.  We will talk tech but I am not geeking out on it and pretending to be an engineer or tinkerer.  This will be from a regular guy, gun enthusiast, law abiding suburban gun owner like you.

There are some cool things about its design.  I hope to share who made the thing.  Why you should get one or two.  How it can help you.  How to get one.  When they were created.  And stuff that you won’t hear anywhere else.  You’ll see my flubs and mistakes.  I plan to share the journey with you so you can start off smarter.

Unfortunately, if you live in the District of Columbia, California, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and the Rhode Island you can’t own one.  You can get one is you are a legally eligible to purchase a firearm in your state of residence, able to pass a BATFE background check and are at least 21 years of age you can  purchase from a dealer.

They are called cans, mufflers, silencers and suppressors.

    How they work is simple.

    1. Instead of exiting directly from the muzzle, propellant gases first enter the silencer’s expansion chamber, losing some of their energy.
    2. Pressure continues to divert and slow within the baffles while heat dissipates, allowing the projectile to exit before the majority of the gas.
    3. As a result, the report of the shot is suppressed to a hearing-safe level and the de-corking effect, or BANG!, is mitigated.

As I learn, I’ll share the details with you here or on so you can get the truth about silencers.

  • What To Look For In A Motorcycle Jacket

What To Look For In A Motorcycle Jacket

This is a leather women’s motorcycle jacket from Viking Cycle.

I found a deal on a good motorcycle jacket for women located at Viking Cycle. This is a high quality leather jacket with armor that protects your arms and spine. If this jacket had a certain logo on it it would cost over $500 but its not. The makers of this jacket from Viking Cycle were really customer focused and sent me this jacket that my wife loves. It fits like a glove. She was surprised at the weight of it. When you order one, go a size larger than you wear. She wears a size 10 and the one in the photo is a large. The sleeves have a ballistic nylon like material underneath to help with ventilation and movement. The interior is complete with pockets for cellphones and gadgets you want to secure on both sides. The armor can be removed if you just want to look like a Bad Ass and not ride.

    How important is it?

A quality jacket doesn’t just look good it is one that you want to wear. I know you know but protection doesn’t work in the closet. In the times when it is extremely hot, it’s still important to wear a jacket. If you do end up in a crash you want your skin to stay on you. Sliding on pavement can be like putting your skin cheese grater. Who wants their skin scraped off ? A low speed fall doesn’t have to be a life changing event. It is not cool to expose muscle, bone, and nerves. Don’t be like the guy with a tee shirt and a beanie helmet.

Would you rather sweat a little, or bleed a lot?

    What about the branding?

You can rock and ride anything with sacrificing your cuteness. So ride that Spyder, Cam Am, Trike, Sport Bike, Touring, Enduro, chopper, Adventurer, Street, Euro, American, British or Japanese motorcycle when wearing this jacket with confidence. It will prove you are more experienced and knowledgeable rider. The intelligent design and purposed fit of this jacket will set you apart from the rest.

I think if you like the style but don’t see it in your size, you should contact Viking Cycle and let them know what size you are so they can make one for you. They are an international outfit and should be able to deliver.

They have a few other things worth considering before the summer starts. Order now and be ready to rumble.

If you would like this jacket or know someone who would pass it on.

They also have international stores for faster shipping so if you live down-under go here: Viking Cycle Australia and if you live in Great Britain go here: Viking Cycle UK

Let us remember that life gives no guarantees. It is uncertain and unpredictable. It is our absolute duty to make the most of each day.

  • Product review Motorcycle Jacket from Viking Cycle

A quality motorcycle jacket is one of the most popular pieces of equipment you should invest in as a new rider. A good jacket protects you against the environment. It keeps you warm when its cooler than 98.6 and looking cool all the rest of the time. Depending on the season and time of day, what you wear can help or hurt in the prevention of hypothermia. Normal body temperature averages 98.6 degrees. With hypothermia, core temperature drops below 95 degrees. During exposure to cold temperatures, most heat loss (up to 90%) escapes through your skin; the rest, you exhale from your lungs.
A quality jacket doesn’t just look good it is one that you want to wear.  Protection doesn’t work in the closet.  This is jacket is the truth.  It’s real leather. It has real armor. It has been designed with a combination of ballistic mesh in the areas that need to vent.  It is longer in the sleeves than the jacket you wear on a date to protect your arms but not that long that you feel like something is wrong.  It has support in the lower back so when you zip of the jacket it supports your spine.  Speaking of that back, from the spine down is armored up with removal pads.   the liner is zippered.

There are a bunch of different materials your motorcycle jacket can be made of. They are all here.  Economically, you may be able to get by with this and just one other jacket.
If you ride a lot you will probably find yourself being more cold than too hot, so this jacket is a welcome piece of equipment.
This jacket is thick.  It’s going to be hot.  Since most of us ride only in the summer, there are going to be times when you might want to ditch the jacket but I’d advise against it.  I recommend also buying a super lightweight, ballistic mesh jacket for the peak of the summer.
In the times when it is extremely hot, it’s still important to wear a jacket. If you do end up in a crash you want your skin to stay on you. Sliding on pavement can be like putting your skin on a belt sander.  Who wants their skin scraped off their bodies?  A low speed fall doesn’t have to be a life changing event.  It is not cool to expose muscle, bone, and nerves.
Would you rather sweat a little, or bleed a lot?
I’ve been riding motorcycles since 1976.  I’ve been hit by rain, snow, windshield wiper fluid, bees, beetles, gravel, branches, hay, grass, and dirt. I like my skin.  Wearing quality stuff, has saved me many times.  That is why I am still riding and an advocate for wearing protective gear even on short rides.
The style of this jacket is not neutral to me.  You will look like a bad ass.  It will make you look like an experienced and knowledgeable rider.  The intelligent design and purposed fit of this jacket will set you apart from the weekend warriors.
The price point for this jacket is also a huge benefit.  If this jacket had a “shield and bar” logo on it would cost $500 or more in retail.   This one by Viking Cycle is neutral.  You can rock and ride anything with sacrificing your uniqueness.  So ride that Spyder, Cam Am, Trike, Sport Bike, Touring, Enduro, chopper, Adventurer, Street, Euro, American, British or Japanese motorcycle when wearing this jacket.
Viking Cycle provided me this jacket for review.

  • Boones and Crockett Whiskey: Product Review

Boones and Crockett Whiskey: Product Review

The Boones and Crockett Whiskey was opened at the Cigar Town Mclean, lounge and I allowed several people to sample the spirit and give me their unbiased opinion on it.

Over the past twenty years I have reviewed revolvers, pistols, rifles, clothing, eyewear, targets, and gun accessories. This was the first time I was sent a bottle of spirits. In full disclosure, I am a rookie in the drinking department. I don’t have a fine palette for fine wines and liquors. I am a two beer drinker because-you-gave me-a-second-one kinda guy. But I wanted to try this out. The folks at Boones and Crockett sent me a great note of introduction, told me what they were planning to do and I wanted to be a part of it. The demographic they are appealing to are my friends. I was hoping to get a case of this stuff and somehow finagle a private party and a cigar lounge where we could have a blast and talk life, and guns.

I got a bottle. I saved it until my friend at the Cigar Town shop in Mclean invited me to come by. The owner is a great guy and I combined a book signing with it. I got the chance to meet a tobacconists that was selling rare Montecristo cigars the same night. It rained cats and dogs but we had a good time. I met some great new people and actually sold a couple of books.

Overall, 4 out of 5 of the drinkers said they would buy it.  The one that didn’t said he was a whiskey sommelier who just happened to be hawking more expensive whiskey that night.  To be frank, he was an azzhat but did give me some insight into how some whiskey is judged, sold and ranked.

I learned from him that to be called a Bourbon it must be made in the US.  I learned that it is has a percentage of corn in it and must be aged in oak.  I learned that there is a specific process that determines the proof, the color and a bunch of variables.

    Taste wise, I was told:

“it had a strong oak taste.  More than a whiskey of its age usually has.”
    “It was drinkable.”
“It is good. I’d buy it”

For me, the Boones and Crockett Whiskey is a good drink.  It is smooth, pairs good with a good cigar and friends.  It supports the same things I support.  It comes from good people that took a chance on sharing their new product with a relative newbie.

I have tried it on the rocks but think it works the best straight.  Get a bottle, share it with friends, and drink responsibly.

  • Review: Hunters HD Gold Shooting Glasses

Review: Hunters HD Gold Shooting Glasses

Eye protection might well be the least exciting shooting accessory in our range bags, but it is certainly one of the most essential. We only have two eyes, and a moment of neglect can have tragic and permanent consequences.

One of the more interesting options I’ve come across is the shooting glasses offered by Hunter’s HD Gold. I had the good fortune to meet the President of Hunters HD Gold, Brian Conley, at the NRA Annual Meeting earlier this year, and he offered me a pair of their glasses to try. I took him up on it, and have been wearing a pair of their “Gauge” glasses since late spring. I’m primarily a pistol shooter, and participate in USPSA and steel matches all summer long.

I’ve typically worn a set of glasses from another large manufacturer (begins with “O”) with interchangeable lenses for different lighting conditions. That works fine, as long as you’re willing to carry the spare lenses with you all day. But one of the great features of the Hunters HD Gold line of glasses is that they feature photochromic lenses which become lighter or darker as the ambient light changes. Combined with the high definition gold tint, this means great visibility whether indoors or outside, in bright sunlight or shade, and in all types of weather.

Whether in clouds or sun, there’s no need to change lenses with Hunters HD Gold.

One thing I was curious about, however, was how well I might be able to see different fiber optic sight colors, or red-dot sighting systems through the gold lenses. I shouldn’t have worried; both red and green fiber optics and the dot in my Aimpoint sight all popped clearly into view. Bright white painted steel targets didn’t wash out the picture, either, as the glasses provided excellent contrast between my sights and the steel plates. I even tried them with my archery sight, with the same great results. In every shooting situation I’ve worn them in, the Hunters HD Gold glasses have helped cut glare and enhance contrast and clarity.

Hunters HD Gold glasses are available in a variety of styles, and are made in the USA with impact-rated and UV blocking Trivex lenses. Need prescription lenses? Hunters HD Gold glasses can also be made with single vision prescriptions, or with bi- or tri-focal lenses using their TriVueLens progressive design which eliminates lines and image jumps typical to some lined lenses.

If you are looking for advanced eye protection for the shooting sports which offers both safety and great vision, I’d suggest giving Hunters HD Gold a look. Detailed information and retail links are available on their website at:

  • Gun Concealment Mirror

    Gun Concealment Mirror

I got a chance to review’s Homestead Gun Concealment Mirror, w/RFID Lock. In one word: impressive. This is something John Wick would have.
    inside timber vault mirror
After ordering the mirror, it arrived quickly. It looks good. It’s quality furniture. It works. It’s made in Florida. It’s perfect for bedrooms or living rooms. Inside, your valuables are safely and securely hidden. RFID locking mechanism offers more security than a typical magnet-based lock. It’s one-piece construction makes installation much easier. It’s designed for placement between two wall studs on 16” centers.

I really like this. I have a persnickety spouse, so if it looked cheap, it wasn’t going to be used. She likes it.

You can adjust or remove internal shelves to accommodate a variety of private items. Velcro lining provides secure placement. Two strong magnets securely hold metal objects like knives or handguns. It comes with two RFID key cards and one programming key card.

According to the instructions, Every unit is pre-programmed with an audible warning when the RFID locks batteries are nearing end of life.

The only negative for this piece of furniture is that you have to mount it inside your wall. If you are not a DIY, and have knowledge of drywall construction, you made need to Google it for YOuTube or get a handy friend. It is made to recess into you wall so that it is “concealed” and looks like a flush wall mirror. While that may be obvious to some, I didn’t want to leave you without tell you. This may be especially crucial for an apartment owner or renter that cannot alter the walls of your dwelling.  It’s not hard labor though.

How to increase your social media on IG

SocialNetworkElite  to increase your social media on IG

I’ve reviewed firearms, food, gun parts, airguns, and clothing, but this is the first social media service I have ever had the opportunity to test drive.  This is an extremely positive review of a service I used from to increase my Instagram (IG) numbers. Everybody doesn’t use IG but if you do and don’t have a network television show, or a staff of folks helping you, I got a recommendation for you.

I didn’t know what to expect when the CEO, Justin H., of this new company hit me up.  He gave me 30 days to kick the tires of this thing. I was leery.   I didn’t want “bots” or fake accounts.  The process was easy.  The growth was organic.  It didn’t happen over night but once it began it was constant. I am glad I agreed to be a “test dummy” on this thing.  The results are in.  I hit my thirty-day mark in a couple of days from now.

At the time of this post, I kept over 600 new followers.  I had more but I am persnickety. I un-followed some folks, that didn’t share my view of things.   You get to decide. This service works folks!  According to IG, my profile has been visited 813 times in the last seven days.

If you truly want to organically increase your instagram follower numbers, visit social network elite now.

  • AirForce AirGuns

    AirForce AirGuns

The ultimate rifle for every urban shooter should be one of the air guns from

I had the opportunity to review one for you. The one I have is called the Condor SS in .22 caliber. This is a pre-charged pneumatic air rifle. This is an epic rifle that is not a firearm but a serious choice for long range shooting, getting rid of pest and small game hunting.

You know that in a urban and suburban environment a firearm cannot be used to get rid of rats, rabid small game or target practice. You can do all that with this rifle.

The one I have shoots so fast that the lead pellet would have sounded like a .22 going off if it weren’t shot through a suppressed 18-inch barrel. Airforce airguns calls it Sound-Loc® reduction technology. It uses a “pony” like diving tank that locks into place and is a part of the design. I used a full size SCUBA tank to charge it to 2500 PSI. The tank holds 3000 PSI.

I went to Columbia Scuba, in Columbia, Maryland to rent the tank in order to charge the gun. The air went into the special designed nozzle without a hitch in a few minutes.

It has settings that allow you to shoot it and different settings. I had it moderately high and used about 15 single shots before the velocity decrease was noticeable. It still rings my .22 caliber steel target at 50 yards after that. I have shot about 25 shots through it now and have about a 1000 psi left. I know “your mileage may vary” but this gun is epic to me.

I would like to see a shooting club (hint hint) emerge of airforce airgun aficionados appear in my area.

Do you know these things come in different colors?

  • Happiness is a good leather holster

Happiness is a good leather holster

I sitting at home cooling like I usually do, and I got an email from a European leather guy named Luke.  Luke said hey man, like what you are doing can I send you one of my holsters to try?  A couple of weeks passed by and I remembered I had not responded to Luke.  So I emailed him back and he said, go on my website and pick something.  Is that nice or what?  Christmas in March, man.

Well, I thought to myself.  Smith and Wesson just sent me a M&P 9mm 2.0 to review so I ordered a OWB with a two position slant leather right handed holster for it from

Luke said ok and in a few days it was in at my door.  My wife, hollers, what did you buy now?  You know we are on fixed income.  My wife.

This holster is solid.  The leather is good quality.  The stitching is neat, clean and tight.  This is a quality holster.  I have had my share.  I would rank this right up there with DeSantis, Galco and El Paso Saddlery.

When I put the M&P in it, I had the usual resistance on the thumb snap until the leather stretched over the back strap for a secure fit.

I expect it will work itself out after doing a couple of hundred repetitions of drawing in my dry fire practice.
As holsters go, I give this one a five-star rating.

  • Joyce Pipes

    Joyce Pipes

I first saw the Joyce Pipe on Instagram.  As a cigar smoker I was interested in learning about the pipe that smokes like a cigar for several reasons.  Pipe tobacco is usually easier on the nostrils for people like my wife that detest smoke of all kinds minus a barbeque pit.  My grandfather used to smoke an old pipe with the smell of Cherry flavored tobacco that I associate instantly with a calm, wise old man with stories and laughter.  The pipe on Instagram was handmade by a former pastor that moved out of a busy city to the country of the upper west coast where he makes a living designing and creating these individual pipes that smoke like cigars.

It’s made out of various types of wood with acrylic and stone inlays where the band would go on a traditional cigar.  It is created with a chamber inside so that it smokes cooler than a cigar would.  You have a choice of the color of the wood, and the band.

Smoking a cigar pipe is similar to smoking a pipe.  You purchase your tobacco, you pack it, tamp it, pack it and light it.  As the tobacco burns the ashes spill out so I had to tip the cigar pipe up at an angle in between puffs.  It was enjoyable.  It will be my go to smoke when with the family on outings.
The artisan, Ben Joyce is as nice as his creations.  It was a pleasure to speak with him and interview him for one of my podcast episodes of the Speak Life Podcast.

Go to ‪‬ and see what you can come up with.  Get a custom cigar pipe or purchase one already finished from his collection.
