Why You Should Buy A LWRCI Rifle [podcast 532]

Straight Out of Cambridge

I got a chance to tour the LWRCI plant in Cambridge, MD on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and learned a lot. I saw some good stuff. Little known American history about Harriet Tubman. Michael J. Woodland on building an AR.

In a college course I once took for creative writing I was asked what I would do if I won a million dollars.  My answer was scoffed.  After I got rid of my own debt I wanted to create a business that would save a community.  It would employ people and allow them the opportunity for a better life.  I would set it up so that it made money but wouldn’t care if I got rich from it or not.  The purpose was truly to help families.  I just found a company that is doing that in the firearms industry.  It’s called the LWRC International.  They make high performance rifles, parts for other firearm companies and defense contracts.

They moved from Virginia to the gun unfriendly state of Maryland purposely.  LWRCI put factories in the impoverished land of Harriet Tubman’s Eastern Shore.  For many people this is a forgotten place.  Located in two locations that used to be only rural farm land, chicken farms and Sojourner Truth College, is a thriving business.   Between DC and OC is LWRCI.  Second on to the Purdue poultry empire is this company.  When I walked the plant floor watching millions of dollars’ worth of equipment and Corvette like attention to detail being put into each build, I saw happy people.  Really happy people, not like the ones I see daily.  Many of the workers are African Americans.

Introducing the ultimate LWRC Repr. This i

s the semi-automatic version with the 16 inch barrel and the .308 round.

The unique LWRC Rapid Engagement Precision Rifle (REPR) is a full spectrum weapon system designed to put devastating 7.62mm NATO rounds on target in a variety of roles. The REPR rifle allows a marksman to perform assaulter duty with the 16 inch barreled upper installed, and quickly switch to a sniper role simply by changing to the 20 inch€ barreled upper. The extra upper receiver assembly is carried in a specially designed pack that takes up less room and weighs less than carrying a separate rifle.

The LWRC REPR rifle utilizes our patented self-regulating, short-stroke gas-piston operating system, ensuring unparalleled reliability in the harshest theaters of operation. A side-mounted charging handle allows the shooter to perform reloads without removing their eyes from the target, and prevents any gas blowback to the face when using a suppressor. The LWRC REPR Rifle rails are easily removable and reinstalled with a hex key and provide a 100% return to zero for optics and lasers.

Each LWRC REPR Rifle comes with one barrel length but extra barreled uppers are available in light contour 16.1 inch medium contour 20 inch heavy contour configuratin. The REPR rifle is available in three models: Standard Model (16.1 inch and Sniper Model 20 inch ). Custom packages including one lower and two or more barreled uppers are available. I liked seeing a smiling mature woman named Wanda start the barrel process.  I liked seeing a younger one overlooking the process of cleaning a part.  I enjoyed watching several men that looked like me taking pride in doing their part in a process of making a superior product.

Yes, these rifles cost more.  It’s made in the US by US Citizens.  Yes, you can buy a AR for 1/3 the price but except for the fact that the bullets you can use are the same, there are many differences.  You can buy a Nissan Versa to go to work or you can ride a Tesla Model S.  Both the Timex and the Rolex tell time.  What’s the difference?  I have seen it.  You are paying for quality products.  You are paying for technology.  You are paying to employ Americans.  You are paying for personal attention to detail in a firearm you can trust.

I got invited to LWRCI to witness the unveiling of a rifle built for women.  Over a hundred women submitted input on what they wanted in a combat functioning AR rifle.  This was not just a paint job. Many companies have insultingly just slapped some stuff together without direct input from their customers.  LWRC didn’t compromise.  This design was led by Carrie Lightfoot, head of the Well-Armed Woman, and Co-host of the Women’s Gun Show Podcast.

Cambridge, MD.

is also the historical birthplace of Harriet Tubman.  I share some facts with you on this show.

Harriet Tubman escaped from slavery in the South to become a leading abolitionist before the American Civil War. She was born into slavery in Maryland in 1820, and successfully escaped in 1849. Yet she risked her life and freedom and returned many times to rescue both family members and other slaves from the plantation system. Tubman led hundreds to freedom in the North as the most famous “conductor” on the Underground Railroad, an elaborate secret network of safe houses organized for that purpose. She also helped the Union Army during the war, working as a spy among other roles. After the Civil War ended, Tubman dedicated her life to helping impoverished former slaves and the elderly, establishing her own Home for the Aged. In honor of her life and by popular demand via an online poll, in 2016, the U.S. Treasury Department announced that Harriet Tubman will replace Andrew Jackson on the center of a new $20 bill.
