Last year, I got the call. I got one call to be a possible guest on a now canceled gun show on the History Channel. Around the same time, I auditioned in Hollywood, CA for a hosting position on a show that never was. Got the opportunity to fly out to California, meet some great people, shoot some scenes on the Iron Man set, and fire a .50 caliber flintlock at a stack of Orange Crush soda, attempt to burst a paint filled balloon that was dropped from a drone in the desert and operate a remote control car with a target on it while my partner tried to hit it. It was strange and the kind of fun you can only have in America (or how it used to be). I was the old man in a group of men that had in it fitness experts, firearms instructors, veterans and law enforcement, and goofy gun enthusiast. We were all trying to be one of the three hosts they wanted. We filmed for two full days and for the first time I was called “talent”. All that filming was for a four minute “sizzle reel” that fizzled out. I guess SPIKE TV didn’t buy it but it didn’t douse my dreams.
After twenty years on gun rights activism and meeting so many people in the industry and right to keep and bear arms world, I have made enough contacts to think I could put together an interesting show of my own. Blanchard Media Group is in the beginning stages of outlining, and planning a pilot for a show similar to the Urban Shooter Podcast. I’ll have podcasters, trainers, everyday people that you may have not have heard of that are involved in this arena and making a difference. I want to include all the stuff you don’t see anywhere else, even the occasional imprudent opposition.
I plan to use a professional production company to film and edit it that I recently had the pleasure of meeting. There is nothing of its kind currently on the air so if none of the three networks I plan to pitch it to, wants it, I will continue with my own version of it for the internet. I’ve been known to bloom early and the status quo might not be ready for all this yet.
But if they are, it’s time to go Prime Time Baby!——————————————-
